At First - On the SurfaceLord Erlok appears to be quite the reserved gentleman, always vigilantly watching others. He is stand-offish and generally disinterested in conversing with those around him. While he is generally quiet and prefers to wallflower, the Elezen seems to bloom when a conversation or a person intrigues him.He is very suave and silver-tongued when speaking to others, and while he does not flirt openly with everyone when he does find interest in others, he tends to make it evident fairly bluntly.On occasion, he might partake in one-night stands, but this is rare.He can most often be found wandering Eorzea conducting business in varying places, though is most commonly found in Ishgard or Kugane; he has as of late begun to travel to Ul'Dah.He often has either a cigarette, a wine glass, or a tome in his hand and has been known to choose these things over conversation with others.Deep withinErlok is a psychopathic sadist that delights in making others suffer be it in the physical or even after death, by tearing out his victims' souls and leaving them to suffer within his lantern or cursed item. History

Early LifeAs a mortal, he was born in the [eedacted] as Erok Grael, a Monk of [redacted]. He served them for many years, expecting to be recognized by [redacted] masters, but due to his humble background, he was delegated to work as a warden to safeguard magical artifacts which he took as an insult.Grael felt bitter towards his new position as he believed himself more gifted than his noble-born peers who got more prestigious roles, and that his lowly position would stop him from being recognized.After years of working in the vault, Grael grew bitter and cruel. Growing frustrated over his fellow wardens getting killed by the artifacts, he took interest in a nameless tome claimed to whisper one's darkest thoughts.Grael kept the tome in his possession, but his superior, Head Warden Rastofir, stopped him and threatened to demote him. Angered, he believed that Rastofir was trying to steal his research for his own benefit, so he arranged Rastofir to be killed by a miscategorized artifact so he could manipulate the order into a pragmatic direction.The DescentOne day, a fleet of ships arrived and invaded the isles he called home, led by [redacted] whom wanted to use ancient, 'blessed' waters to resurrect his wife after learning of the Monk's capabilities. When the monks refused, [redacted] and his knights took the opportunity to slaughter the monks and all of the natives.Grael delighted in the carnage and suffering that ensued and took it upon himself to lead [redacted] to the 'blessed waters', however, his wife's resurrection failed and caused a blast of magic that corrupted the Isles' protective barrier, turning all of the inhabitants into wraiths.Grael embraced his transformation and took on the moniker Thresh, eager to act out his desires for cruelty without punishment or the limits of mortality. As decades passed, Thresh's spectral form morphed into a reflection of his darkest traits. He roamed the Isles killing people and imprisoning their souls within his lantern, becoming known in the folklore as 'The Harvester'.Through his collection and consumptions of countless souls, Erlok was able to forge himself a new sort of mortal form and now uses this to prowl Eorzea.
